Denver's semi-arid climate brings intense UV, wide temperature swings, and frequent hail that can destroy standard shingles in a single storm. We install only impact-rated asphalt shingles rated for at least Class 4, with reinforced fiberglass mats and polymer-modified asphalt that hold up under Red Rocks Park wind gusts and Cherry Creek summer hail.
Proper ventilation and ice-and-water shield placement are non-negotiable here. We run continuous eave protection up 6 feet and seal all valleys before the first course goes down. On homes in Capitol Hill and Highland with steeper pitches or complex hips, we add extra step flashing at every wall intersection to prevent the ice dams that form during our sudden spring thaws.
All work meets current Denver county requirements for wind uplift and fire rating. We never install over existing layers on a new roof installation; complete tear-off allows us to inspect and replace damaged decking before any underlayment goes down. Every ridge vent, pipe boot, and drip edge is chosen to match the shingle system so the roof performs as a single assembly.
After installation we walk the roof with the homeowner, pointing out every sealed penetration and the starter strip alignment so you can see the workmanship that will be hidden once the job is finished.
How it works
- 1
Site assessment and deck inspection
We measure the roof, note hail damage patterns common in Denver, check for rot, and confirm ventilation meets code before any materials are ordered.
- 2
Complete tear-off and deck preparation
Existing shingles and underlayment are removed to the deck. Damaged plywood is replaced, then we install synthetic underlayment and ice-and-water membrane at eaves and valleys.
- 3
Shingle layout and installation
Starter strips are set at eaves and rakes, then shingles are installed with proper offset and nail placement. High-wind clips are added in exposed areas near Union Station and the Denver Art Museum corridor.
- 4
Flashing, ridge, and final seal
Step flashing, counter flashing, pipe boots, and ridge vent are installed. All penetrations receive manufacturer-approved sealant compatible with our shingle brand.
